🎵 Privacy Policy for Pagefy Extension
Effective Date: January 21, 2026
Information Collection and Use
Pagefy Extension is designed with your privacy in mind. The extension analyzes webpage content only when you explicitly click the "Generate" button. We do not passively monitor or collect your browsing activity.
Key Privacy Principle: Pagefy only processes data when you actively request music recommendations. We never track your browsing history or collect personal information.
Data We Process
When you request music recommendations, the following data is temporarily processed:
- Page content: Title, headings, meta description, and main text content of the active webpage
- Page URL: Used to generate a cache key for storing recommendations locally
This data is sent to our secure backend service solely to generate music recommendations using AI analysis. We do not store this data permanently on our servers.
Data Storage
The extension uses Chrome's local storage to save:
- Spotify authentication tokens: Encrypted tokens to maintain your Spotify connection
- Cached recommendations: Music suggestions for previously visited pages (cached for up to 7 days)
This data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to external servers except for the Spotify authentication flow.
Third-Party Services
Pagefy integrates with the following third-party services:
- Spotify Web API: Used for authentication, searching tracks, and controlling playback. Subject to Spotify's Privacy Policy
- Perplexity AI (via our backend): Used to analyze page content and generate music context. The page content is processed but not stored permanently
Permissions Explained
Pagefy requires the following permissions to function:
- activeTab: To read the content of the current webpage when you click the extension icon
- scripting: To inject the content extraction script into web pages
- storage: To save your Spotify tokens and cache recommendations locally
- identity: To enable secure OAuth authentication with Spotify
Data Security
We take security seriously:
- All communications with our backend use HTTPS encryption
- Spotify authentication uses OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for enhanced security
- No sensitive data (passwords, API keys) is stored in the extension
- Page content is processed in real-time and not stored on our servers
What We Don't Collect
Pagefy does NOT collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, address)
- Browsing history or web activity
